Love Found Me

Stranger love and self love

He gave me a big smile and offered to take my groceries to my car. I fell in love a little. With life. She held the door open for me when my arms were full and I was looking for my keys. I fell in love a little. With life. The man in the blue car that waved me into his lane after I’d been waiting for quite some time. I fell in love a little. With life. A woman at Costco stopped me to tell me she thought my eyes were beautiful. I fell in love a little. With life. There was this old man and woman that crossed the street in front of me, holding hands. I fell in love a little. With life. My friend called me and asked if I was hanging in there. I fell in love a little. With life. This cute little boy in the back seat of an Expedition that smiled at me from his car seat. I fell in love a little. With life. This random cat that stopped its stroll across the grass to just stare at me. I fell in love a little. With life. I was looking down at the ground as I walked to my car at the grocery store and this man stopped me and said “Smile. It’s not that bad”. I fell in love a little. With life.

None of these people knew where my head and heart were… they didn’t know that I had been trying to put my life back together after it had been turned upside down. They had no idea that I no longer believed in love. Yet, they all gave me love! In their gifts of love, I began to love life. One kind moment, comment, and look, at a time.
